I approach movement as a form of research which deserves attention and discussion. My focus and interest involves the incredible movement capabilities of the human body and the limits to which it can respond. As the dancers’ bodies move through space, morphing their shape, their internal sensations and their relationships  to  each  other, the audience  creates  their own experience  through  watching the work.

My work is collaborative. Each dancer contributes their own movement past and present to my work. I believe the coexistence and interaction of the separate and idiosyncratic wisdom of each dancing entity creates meaning in my work. This meaning is not predetermined or static and will produce different interpretations on each audience member’s viewing.

I make work that engages the mind. Architecture, layering, detail, and complexity are important and ever present in my work. I encourage the viewer to see the lines of ballet and the swing of weight from classical modern technique in wholly novel ways. My work spurs the viewer to see familiar body parts from new angles and to consider how and why the body moves.

My work does not speak through

obvious outpouring of emotions,

but through the form of the body and the experiences it has encountered. Through the use of recognizable dance forms, the metamorphosis of those forms, and the dancers individual body knowledge, my work promotes thought, discussion, and open interpretation by the audience.
